Elder Beats: Free Seniors Drumming Circle + Social Tea (Aged 55+)
Join us for a vibrant and energising group djembe drumming session tailored for seniors aged 55 and over! Whether you’re an experienced player or have never picked up a drum before, you’re invited to feel the rhythm, connect with others, and lift your spirits through the power of music.
Drumming can help reduce stress, elevate mood, and improve physical health—all while nurturing a sense of community.
This uplifting session is led by Gareth Jones, who developed his passion over ten years in South Africa, learning directly from Zulu elders and musicians. His journey later took him to Ghana to study with master drummers, and for the last 20 years, he’s been sharing his knowledge as a professional teacher and performer.
We will provide a range of drums and percussion instruments, but you are also welcome to bring your own. When booking your ticket, please choose one based on your preference:
- If you will be bringing your own drum, select the “BYO Drum” ticket.
- If you will need to use one of our instruments, select the “Need a Drum” ticket.
You can participate in just the drumming session, just the social tea, or both. If you wish to join for the morning tea as well, please make sure to select the morning tea ticket in addition to your drumming ticket.
This is a FREE EVENT, but prior bookings are necessary to confirm your spot. Donations are welcome. We look forward to having you with us!
