Prima Facie NORPA 2026 | Suzie Miller’s Landmark Play on Tour
Suzie Miller’s Prima Facie has captivated audiences across the globe. It has seen massive success from London’s West End to the bright lights of Broadway. Now, NORPA brings a brand-new original production of this landmark Australian play to the Byron Theatre. This production marks a significant moment for local theatre in the Northern Rivers region.
The play stars Matilda Ridgway as Tessa. Tessa is an ambitious young lawyer who has reached the top of her profession. She is a master of her craft and a fierce defender of the legal system. However, a shocking event suddenly throws her own life into a deep crisis.
Tessa soon finds herself on the other side of the witness stand. She is forced to confront the entrenched power of the law she once championed. This experience makes her face the cracks and failures of the system firsthand. The story provides a visceral look at justice and personal struggle. It remains theatre at its most urgent and provocative.
NORPA’s Artistic Associate, Heather Fairbairn, directs this compelling new version. Fairbairn previously received acclaim for her work on Bell Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Her direction ensures that Prima Facie NORPA 2026 resonates deeply with every audience member. The production focuses on the emotional truth of the script while challenging the status quo.
In February 2026, NORPA will take this production on the road. The tour is part of the inaugural Village Circuit. This initiative aims to share exceptional theatre with diverse communities. The tour will visit six key Northern Rivers towns:
-
Byron Bay
-
Tweed Heads
-
Murwillumbah
-
Kyogle
-
Grafton
-
Lismore
This tour allows local residents to experience world-class drama in their own backyards. It represents a bold step forward for regional performance art. Don’t miss your chance to witness this powerful story live on stage.
