On September 11, Byron Theatre hosts Living the Tradition—a unique blend of film and live music celebrating the soul of Irish tradition.

The Film

Shot on location in Ireland, this documentary offers a fresh take on Irish music and culture, highlighting its emotional depth and timeless beauty.

The Concert

Following the screening, cellist Ilse de Ziah and guitarist Ian Date perform music from their debut album Here & There. Their live set reimagines ancient Irish airs with captivating improvisation.

Meet the Artists

Ilse de Ziah is known for her emotionally charged, genre-crossing cello performances. Ian Date, one of Australia’s top guitarists, brings warmth and technical brilliance to the stage.
