If you have already enjoyed a taste of short-form improv and theatresports, it is time to take the next step. We invite you to try Blah Blah Blah Improv’s five-week Long-form Improv Course, where you will be introduced to the exciting world of long-form improvised comedy. Throughout this program, you will learn various ‘Chicago’ style scene editing techniques that help a show flow seamlessly. Additionally, you will master the Montage performance format and learn how to heighten comedic elements in any scene.
During this Long-form Improv Course, our focus is on teaching you how to let a scene breathe. You will learn to make bold choices that advance the plot while maintaining a genuine connection with your scene partners. Because we value professional growth, this course is designed to challenge your creativity in a supportive environment. Furthermore, participants will gain the confidence needed to perform extended improvised narratives that captivate an audience.
Prerequisites and Professional Coaching
To ensure the best experience for everyone, there are specific prerequisites for this Long-form Improv Course. You must have completed our Improv: Fun and Games course or a reputable multi-week Level 1 program elsewhere. If you have trained with another company, please email us at lol@blahblahblahimprov.com to verify your skill level before enrolling. This ensures that every student is ready for the advanced techniques we cover.
The coach for this session is Mandy Plumb, who trained at the world-famous iO Theater in Chicago. Because she has performed in hundreds of professional shows, she brings a wealth of international experience to the classroom. Consequently, students receive high-caliber instruction rooted in the same traditions that started the careers of stars like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Therefore, this Long-form Improv Course offers a rare opportunity to learn elite comedy skills right here in Byron Bay.
