Gosti brings together three multi-talented musicians who have collaborated over many years in various successful combinations. As a world-class global fusion trio, they have previously performed in ensembles such as Ross Daly’s Australian Labyrinth, The Balkanics, and Makedonski Bop. Each player brings a diverse pack of cards to the table, resulting in a rich and layered musical experience. Because the members have spent decades honing their craft, the music they create is both sophisticated and deeply grounded. Meet the Masters of the Trio Linsey Pollak is a renowned innovator who formed the cross-cultural ensemble ‘Slivanje’ for the very first WOMADelaide. In this global fusion trio, he plays wind instruments of his own design as well as the bass clarinet. Joining him is Tunji Beier, who began studying Yoruba drumming in Nigeria at just ten years old. Later, he traveled to South India to master percussion under the mentorship of Mr. TAS Mani. In Gosti, he plays an array of instruments including the mridangam, kanjira, and zarb. Finally, Philip Griffin’s extraordinary talents as a multi-instrumentalist defy simple categorization. He brings a huge range of musical styles to the group while playing the oud, laouto, and bass guitar.
