Mini Farmers – Charming Chickens
These school holidays take the kids to The Farm in Byron Bay for their Farm Kids sessions where they take the children on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. They educate them about the cows, pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. They discuss concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soil and composting and other ethical farming practices. The children get up close and personal with their pet chickens and when available taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.
In the Charming Chickens session the kids will get to discover what it takes to keep chickens healthy and happy! Kids will learn about different heritage breeds, explore a chicken’s fascinating life cycle, and find out how pasture-raised, regenerative farming methods produce the best eggs. They’ll meet their feathered friends up close and see why they’re such an important part of the farm. Activities include making hilarious little egg heads, crafting a chicken-themed bookmark, and cooking lavender pikelets with fresh farm eggs. A day of feathered fun, creative crafts, and egg-citing flavours!
Ideal for children aged 5 and over.
